Fox School District C-6 will hold a support staff recruitment fair for the first time in its history in an attempt to fill more than 60 open positions.
During the Fox C-6 Support Staff Recruitment Fair, scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, the district will seek hire bus drivers, food service employees, custodians, maintenance staff, teacher aides and assistants, and Character Kids Club staff.
The district also hires substitute teachers.
Kelly Bracht, assistant superintendent of human resources, said that in previous school years, district officials had attended about a dozen job fairs hosted by other organizations, but the number of job fairs held by the he job had dwindled, so Fox decided to hold his own.
The district has a total of 65 open positions, some full-time and some part-time, Bracht said.
“Support staff professionals are essential members of staff and perform essential tasks every day,” she said. “Filling these positions is extremely important because providing a high quality education to our students requires a team effort from all staff at our school.”
The starting salary for the various open jobs ranges from $11.80 per hour to $27.98 per hour. The maximum salary for vacant positions is between $16.77 per hour and $41.21 per hour depending on experience.
Full-time support staff members also receive health and dental benefits.
Fox District representatives will be at the fair to answer questions about vacancies. The district will also offer online and paper applications for potential employees to complete and the first interview may take place during the trade show, Bracht said.
“Fox C-6 is a great place to work,” she said. “The district offers competitive wages and employee benefits. But more than that, our employees take pride in the work they do because they serve their local community. The next generation of leaders walks our halls every day, and being able to help them become the people they will become is the greatest benefit of working for Fox C-6.
The Transportation Department will have buses at the fair to give potential drivers a chance to test drive the vehicles. The transportation department also offered test drives when it held its own job fair in July.
The Department of Transportation event attracted 25 potential candidates and four applied to become district bus drivers, Transportation Manager Gary Cross said.
Cross said three of the people who applied must pass their certification exam and are expected to start driving for the district by the end of this month.
When the school year began Aug. 24, the district had 68 full-time and part-time drivers to handle 64 routes, and Fox couldn’t provide transportation for elementary students who live about a mile away. their school and college and high school. students who live approximately 2 miles from their schools.
These transportation-free zones initially left 2,116 students without district-provided transportation at the start of the school year. However, Fox has increased the number of students it will carry throughout the school year.
“We got about 335 students back on the buses,” Cross said Sept. 14.
