Attwood said: “I was so scared, I was like ‘what the hell is wrong with me? “.

After ITV staff took the 31-year-old on a 40-minute trip to hospital, she said: “It was like the longest trip ever.

“I didn’t know what to think. I wondered if I had caught a virus, if I was pregnant, all these things were going through my mind. It was absolutely scary.”

Bizarrely, the second tests came back normal, but rather than return to the jungle, she said she was “taken to a hotel to sleep while ITV decided what to do with me”.

She added: “I tried to keep my emotions in check but I started to feel like I wasn’t going to go back, you know when you just have a feeling? I started to understand that I was definitely absent.

“But then I was trying to rationalize it, there was nothing wrong with me, so why wouldn’t I be able to? I also knew how much the production team wanted me on the show. Nothing None of this made sense. I was waiting for someone to tell me.”

The broadcaster then concluded that he didn’t want to take any risks because iron deficiency anemia can make a person more susceptible to catching a disease.

“They said that due to the results the show’s medical team had gotten from my readings, they weren’t happy to sign me back, even though I had the bill of health. hospital,” Attwood said.

“I was absolutely devastated. I’m not a crier but I started crying, it was so emotional. I was heartbroken and gutted.

“I tried to keep my emotions in check and keep them in perspective, things could be a lot worse.

“Just two days before I jumped out of a helicopter which I loved. I did a tryout which I loved. I was so happy and elated. It was an extreme high to an extreme low . I felt empty.”

But although she was disappointed to leave, Atwood said she had “great memories” of her short time there.
