The above positions are now available to support the Principal Investigator, Assistant Professor Feng Mengling, in his research in the areas of health data analytics and AI solutions.
Dr. Mengling Feng (https://www.mornin-feng.com/) is truly an interdisciplinary scientist, who is currently a faculty member of the School of Public Health, School of Computer Science and the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Medicine. He is also a Senior Deputy Director working directly with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at National University Hospital (NUH). Dr. Feng is also an MIT-affiliated scientist. His research aims to develop effective data analytics and machine learning methods to extract actionable insights from medical big data to improve the quality of care. Dr. Feng’s work has been recognized by well-established journals, such as Science Translational Medicine, and leading international conferences, such as KDD, AAAI, and AMIA.
Interdisciplinary and international AI laboratory
Selected candidates will work in an interdisciplinary team comprised of data scientists, physicians, postdocs, doctoral students, and respected faculty members from NUS, NUH, and SGH. Candidates will work on healthcare projects funded by our Ministry of Health, Health Promotion Council and AI Singapore. As Dr. Feng is an Affiliate Scientist, his lab constantly works with faculty and students from the Harvard-MIT Health Science Technology Division. Dr. Feng has more than 20 joint publications with Harvard and MIT between 2017 and 2019. Potential industrial and overseas exposure
Dr. Feng works closely with various local and international industry partners. Dr. Feng’s team members often have the opportunity to work as affiliate scientists in our partner companies, such as MSD, PingAn, Google, Intel, Nvidia, IBM, SAP, Philips, local and international start-ups .
Responsibilities and Requirements
The primary responsibility of the selected candidate is to apply and develop machine learning and AI technologies to address health issues raised by our clinical collaborators. The selected candidate will also be involved in data management, extraction and pre-processing for various projects.

Essential technical skills:
- Excellent academic record
- Knowledge and experience in statistical analysis or machine learning
- Programming language: Python or R or C++
Good knowledge and experience in the following areas is a plus:
- Experience with PL-SQL/Trans-SQL
- Knowledge and experience of GPU-based computing
- Strong in Mathematics
- Solid foundations in machine learning
- Candidates with publications in the field of machine learning are preferred
This position will initially be available for one year. The rank of appointment will be granted based on the candidate’s academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.

Successful candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics and preferably relevant experience.
